Notes on starting over

A note before you read :)
I’m not an expert, and I’m not here to tell you what to do. I write about what I’m living: coming home after years abroad, starting over from zero, and learning to feel calm. Everything here is my own story, in my own words, and the imperfect photos are mine. When I quote someone else, I say so.

Start with Chapter 1: Belonging. These four notes are connected, and each one leads to the next. Read them in order, from coming home to finding out what home really means.

— Chapter 1 · Belonging

Start here: chapter 1

These four notes are connected, so they make more sense in order.

  1. Coming Home After 5 Years Abroad.

How my idea of home changed after years of moving, and what home means when you don’t have a fixed address

  1. Foreign in Both Places

Why coming home after living abroad felt harder than leaving, and what nobody tells you about reverse culture shock.

  1. I Applied for the Visa Anyway.

An immigrant abroad, a foreigner at home: what it feels like to not belong completely to any place.

  1. What Home Actually Means

Why I applied even when I wasn’t sure, and what I learned about letting go of Plan A.
